I’m a digital compositor who blends artistic vision with smart automation to bring stories to life.

Coming from an audiovisual background and fueled by a strong interest in scripting and automation, I approach compositing with both artistic sensitivity and technical logic. Over time, I’ve developed a range of custom tools for Nuke that help streamline repetitive tasks and keep workflows clean. Many of these tools are featured here — built from real production challenges and designed to make artists’ lives easier.

Who Am I? 🙋‍♂️

Hey, I’m Javier de la Puente, a digital compositor with a deep love for visual storytelling. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been creating — from flipbooks and stop-motion videos at 10 years old, to editing my own short films on YouTube by 12. That early passion led me to study Audiovisual Communication, and later specialize with a Master’s in Digital Compositing for VFX at U-TAD, where I had the chance to learn from Adrián Pueyo.

What drew me to VFX were the incredible sci-fi and fantasy films that sparked my imagination. I’ve always enjoyed the artistic side of things, but during my training, I also discovered a passion for the technical: writing tools in Python to automate repetitive tasks and make workflows smarter.

I love lookdev — giving each shot a unique visual touch — and I equally enjoy building custom tools that solve problems in creative ways. Right now, I’m focused on growing within a company where I can keep learning from experienced artists and pushing my skills to the next level.

My approach is simple:

Keep it clean. Keep it visual. Automate the boring. Make it work.

My Experience

I’m a digital compositor with a background in Audiovisual Communication and a Master’s in Digital Compositing for VFX from U-TAD, where I studied under industry professionals like Adrián Pueyo. During my training, I discovered a passion not only for compositing but also for scripting, learning Python to create tools that simplify and speed up production workflows.

Professionally, I’ve worked on a wide range of projects — from high-end advertising campaigns like BBVA and Takis Blue Heat, to narrative content like La Agencia and Skyland: Project 0, and stylized music videos like Çilencio by Califato ¾. I also completed an internship at Orca Studios, where I gained hands-on experience with CG integration, ACES workflows, QC´s with pixel perfect, and production tools like ftrack.

In parallel, I’ve developed a set of custom Nuke tools such as JL_Relink, JL_AutoPipe, and Channel Hotbox, all designed to make day-to-day tasks more efficient and scripts more readable. My workflow is guided by one idea: keep it clean, visual, and effective — always balancing creativity with precision and automation.
